THE CHALLENGE FACING OUR CHAPTERS
Our Fraternity and Sorority letters represent more than membership. They represent a history we inherited, obligations we are asked to uphold, and a promise about the kind of values-driven people we are trying to become.
Reflecting on what wearing our letters means, we know it means carrying the identity of our organization with us. Reflecting on what it means to incorporate those values into our lives means asking different questions: “what do our letters ask of us?” and more importantly, “how do others experience them through us when we wear them?” It means ensuring the way we lead reflects what our organization says it represents.
From the outside, Chapter life may look successful: we show up, manage budgets, support causes, plan socials, and recruit new members. Yet members can still feel disconnected or unseen. When Chapter life becomes a series of hollow routines, members lose the very safety, belonging, life-changing and lifelong support that fraternity and sorority life was built to provide.
The Living Your Letters (LYL) Program isn’t a lecture from outside fraternity and sorority life telling students what to do and what not to do. It’s a high-impact program built
by individuals who come from inside the Fraternity and Sorority community’s experience
for students who want to make a difference in their Chapter .
By reconnecting with universal Greek life pillars of Faith, Hope, and Love, Eric equips student leaders with practical tools for fostering high-trust environments, building strong members, developing resilient leaders who transform their chapters into experiences where members don't just endure, but truly thrive, and ultimately achieving a culture that creates life-long belonging.
"Eric’s challenge is simple, yet profound:
are fraternities and sororities creating environments where members genuinely feel safe, open, honest, and vulnerable,
or
are we simply pretending that we are?
I would strongly recommend him to any fraternity or sorority
seeking to build more meaningful membership."
— Dr. Simon Taylor, Chief Learning Officer, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity

In a powerful keynote blending raw vulnerability with personal narrative storytelling, humor, and practical reflection, Eric shares his experience of having to carry an 'invisible inheritance' into young adulthood at college.
He pulls back the curtain on his transformation from empty ritual to purposeful living by sharing how brothers specifically lived the organizational values in ways that provided safety, direction, and lifelong connection. Eric reminds the audience that fraternity and sorority letters are not decorations or just words recited during chapter meetings and Rituals; they are lifelines.

Eric didn't enter college with a roadmap. He arrived carrying a single duffel bag of clothes and a lifetime’s worth of invisible baggage. Living in fear, despair, and shame, he was merely surviving life.
Fraternity life changed everything. Eric discovered a path from survival to purpose by witnessing his Brothers authentically living their fraternity’s values. Additionally, he learned that people - his Brothers trusted him to lead before he believed in his own potential. Eric went on to serve as Recruitment Chair, Fraternity Educator, Ritualist, Chapter President, and Interfraternity Council (IFC) President. Today, Eric is an organizational strategist who has advised more than 250 organizations on team dynamics, culture, and performance. He serves as an Alumni Advisor at University of Maryland and frequently serves as keynote speaker and facilitator for national fraternity student leadership programs.
